DeAndre Carroll, the person behind Disciples of Funk and The FunKinetic Project, will be teaching a solo dance workshop for swing dancers February 10 at Cherry Creek Dance. Through DeAndre’s instruction and historical knowledge, he’ll guide dancers from vintage solo jazz roots into the modern era.
Jazz Roots Beyond is perfect for dancers curious about how the solo jazz movements you know transformed as the music changed, wanting to branch into modern-era dance styles, desiring a fresh inspiration and challenge.
Pre-requisites: a smattering of solo movement knowledge whether that is the tranky doo, big apple or comparable solo jazz routine; previous breakdancing experience through class; comfortable enough moving solo for this class. If you have question, just message Kenny Nelson because he was struggling to figure out solid pre-requisites.
When: 12-3pm, February 10
Where: Cherry Creek Dance
How much: $45 online pre-registration, $60 at the door
Kenny first met DeAndre in 2007 when he hired him for a national-scale workshop focused on solo dancing for swing dancers. They even did a collaboration a couple summers ago. He has vast experience working with newer dancers and swing dancers. You’ll be in great hands!
